Abstract (English):
The maritime industry is currently undergoing rapid technological advancement, including the adoption of autonomous vessels, digitalization, and intelligent port infrastructure. The authors note that the implementation of these technologies in Russia's border regions lags behind other key maritime hubs. This article analyzes trends in the development of marine transportation within Russia's border regions. The dy namics of cargo turnover in seaports of these regions were examined for the period 2013–2014; statistical indicators were calculated, and a matrix for classifying ports according to stability and variability in cargo turnover was developed. To investigate the infrastructural aspect, coefficients of port capacity utilization were computed, and the dynamics of availability and depreciation levels of fixed assets among enterprises engaged in "maritime freight transport" were analyzed. A correlation analysis between investment volumes and cargo turnover was conducted. The study highlights the positive impact of increased investments in marine transportation and growing demand from foreign partners for transit services utilizing domestic capacities. The scientific significance of this work lies in the substantiation of an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing trends in maritime transport development, the formulation of existing prob lems, the identification of contradictions, and the application of quantitative methods to detect under lying patterns. Analyzing the dynamics of maritime transport in border regions helps assess its im pact on the local economy, including trade volumes, infrastructure development, and job creation. This research aims to contribute to evidence-based policy-making, provide data for strategic deci sion-making by stakeholders, and support sustainable development of maritime transport in Russia’s border regions. From a practical standpoint, the findings can be used to develop targeted measures for improving maritime transport infrastructure in these areas.
