Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of current problems and features of marginalization of socially significant objects of urban spaces using the example of two large hospitals. The research array was based on information posted in the media and instant messengers such as Telegram and VKontakte. In modern conditions, buildings of various purposes, actively used in the past, or forgotten buildings acquire cultural and historical significance in the eyes of society. As a result, new areas of sociological research are formed into the sociology of spatial marginalization. This study analyzes ideas about marginality and the concept of new marginality. The cases of two hospitals in Moscow and Yekaterinburg, which have become marginal spaces, are studied. Former medical institutions gradually collapsing, become overgrown with myths and legends, attract certain groups of citizens, form new communities around themselves, and become a source of common memories.
